Melbourne is a place I find close to my heart, having grown up in in a south east suburb and later moving out to the rural fringe but still travelling into Melbourne for study and work. I first studied structural drafting at Moorabbin and later worked in suburbs like East Brighton and Auburn. There was a lot of train travel and tram rides. While not being a painter of streets in those times the endless bustle of the Melbourne suburb, people, traffic, rattling trams and the nineteenth century buildings left an indelible mark on my phsyche that I would later have to describe in paint.
